Understanding South Africa's National Qualifications Framework — your roadmap from entry-level learning to doctoral achievement.
What is the NQF?
The National Qualifications Framework is a 10-level system organising all South African qualifications into a single, transparent structure. Every registered qualification sits at a specific NQF level — from Grade 9 equivalent at Level 1, to a Doctoral Degree at Level 10.
Nobody is stuck — every rung leads somewhere. Business World offers three qualifications forming a deliberate stepping stone pathway, each with standalone value and a bridge to the next level.
Business World: NQF 2 → 4 → 5 → University
NQF 5 completion opens entry to university programmes. GMP includes a bonus NQF 6 unit standard. NVC includes a bonus NQF 5 unit standard.
